Immunology of neuropsychiatric disorders
STRESS IMMUNOLOGY GROUP, PUCRS. Porto Alegre, RS
Principal Investigators: Moisés E. Bauer and Rodrigo Grassi-Oliveira
Interests: the impact of stress (current and past) on inflammatory, cognitive, epigenetic, neuroendocrine, and early-senescence markers in neuropsychiatric diseases and drug addiction.
Subjects: human samples (healthy, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, major depression, breast cancer, crack and arthritis); experimental models (C57/BL6 and Balb/C mice).
Methodologies:
- Psychological assessments: cognitive functioning; stress-related behavioral responses (animal & human); Trier social stress test (TSST);
- ELISAs: neurotrophins, salivary and hair cortisol;
- FACS: immunophenotyping, cytokines, cell signaling (MAPK and NF-kB);
- PCR and qPCR: stress-related micro RNAs, methylation and histone modifications, telomere size and genetic polymorphisms.
